This article does not cover all possible treatment methods, but I recommend using an insecticide first to kill or control the adult female spider in your home or work place.
The only way to know whether the spider has been killed by an insecticide is to apply it to the spider. If the female is still alive, she will still live. But if you don't find her, she will die of a severe and often painful wound. After you apply an insecticide, the female will become less active and be harder to find. You can check the spider's location by placing a piece of cardboard inside your home or working area. The cardboard should be placed at least a foot away from the spider and should be covered with a thin layer of soil. If you see a spider near the cardboard, you have found the female and can try to trap her using a strong net.
